STAC NOTE STAC NOTE
RCHIPX / RCHSPX FEATURES
(Applies to ReachOut version 4.04, 5.X)
STAC FAX 8404 (05-25-1995)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
BACKGROUND
The following changes have been made to the RCHIPX feature of
ReachOut version 4.04, and the RCHSPX of version 5.X .
These files will now support an IPXNETS.RCH (RCHSPX supports it
only if the SAP command parameter is not being used) file which
allows the user to define the network addresses that will be used
to connect to Hosts. In this manner a broadcast does not have to
be put on every network in the internetwork. In addition, for
each network that the broadcast will be sent to, it is sent
directly via a router address instead of simply being broadcast.
The router address is obtained at load time, thereby further
reducing network traffic.
The IPXNETS.RCH file can be created and should reside in the same
directory that RCHIPX.EXE / RCHSPX.EXE is loaded from. If the
IPXNETS.RCH file exists then the "SERVER=" command line is
ignored. Each of the network addresses specified must be legal
addresses or RCHIPX / RCHSPX will experience delays upon loading
while it searches for an address path that doesn't exist. An
example of an IPXNETS.RCH text file would be as follows:
00-00-00-0A
00-00-BA-CA
0F-04-11-EE
EE-00-00-00
